NY Speaks app for iPhone and iPad

NYSpeaks enables New Yorkers to tell NYC Public Advocate candidate Devin Balkind what issues he should address and what actions he should take.

This app is part of a broader project that also includes a video show, event series and websites that are help New Yorkers come to consensus about politicians and city agencies should be doing.

The app supports a 4 step process:
* Conversations: Respond to statements to determine which "opinion group" you fit into.
* Proposals: Work with your "opinion group" to come up with proposals for what the Public Advocate should do.
* Votes: Our team turns proposals into action items for the Public Advocate. You vote on which ones we perform
* Actions: Our team sends out regular updates about our actions so you can stay informed and get involved with our work.

If elected in November 2017, Devin will continue to use, and greatly strengthen, the NYSpeaks process. This is part of his commitment to put "process before politics" and "put the public in charge of the Public Advocates Office".

This app was produced with less than 1/10th of 1% of the current annual budget of the Public Advocates Office. Due to our limited budget, the apps functionality is very limited.
